We have rebuilt the prize table of the casino minigame "Number 9", exactly as a tester proposed. The old table stays in the game as "Legacy", and the new "Modern" table is now the default. It is planned for the next test build.
A sum of 24 pays your salaryHow Number 9 works
Nine squares hide the digits 1 to 9, one each. You scratch three of them, and the sum of the three digits (6 to 24) decides your prize.
Why we changed it
The old table did not quite add up.
- A sum of 10–17 is by far the most common (about 64%), yet it always paid 5 shares of the first area in the board's listing. Which area you got depended on how the board happened to be listed, so the same area kept growing game after game
- 18 or more comes up only about 27% of the time, yet 18–21 paid just 1 share of the last area — usually worth less than the 5 shares 10–17 gave
- 24 (7 + 8 + 9) is a 1-in-84 jackpot, yet all it gave was a warp to any square. When a CPU hit it, the warp was simply skipped
The proposal was to keep the average reward gentle, like the other casino games (roughly 80–100G), while making the rarer sums properly rewarding. We applied it as proposed.
The new prize table (Modern)
- Sum 6 … 1 share of every area (unchanged)
- Sum 7–9 … 1 share of the cheapest area
- Sum 10–17 … 5 shares of a random area
- Sum 18–21 … 10 shares of the priciest area
- Sum 22–23 … 5 shares of every area (unchanged)
- Sum 24 … the same amount as your salary (at least 1,250G)
The most common band, 10–17, now picks a random area, which keeps the average gentle. 18–21 pays 10 shares of the priciest area: worthwhile early on, and strong late in the game. The 24 prize is your salary, so it grows as the match goes on — but never enough to decide the match on its own.
- Even early on, when your salary is below 1,250G, a 24 pays 1,250G
- While the "Medal King" sphere is active, it is tripled, like every other salary-type prize
- Because it is money rather than a warp, a CPU that hits 24 now gets paid too
- When areas are tied on price, the one higher in the listing is chosen. An area with no shops is never picked as the "cheapest" or the "random" one
Playing with the old table
We added a "Number 9" row at the bottom of Ruleset (per element) — from the board list press R, then Enter on the "Ruleset" row. Choose "Legacy" there to play with exactly the old table. Choosing the "Legacy" rules preset switches it to Legacy as well.
Number 9 in Ruleset (per element)- Each mode's description on that screen spells out its table
- Games suspended before this change, and replays from earlier versions, keep playing with the old (Legacy) table
That's all for now
Thank you to the tester who sent in the proposal. The new Number 9 is planned for the next test build. Next time you land on a casino, go for 7, 8 and 9.
